God's Creation, Darkness into Light

A Photographic Celebration of Nature and God's Creation (11"x14" Large-Format Coffee Table Book)

This large-format coffee table book features the nature photography of R. John Anderson, and showcases the stunning beauty of nature set against the story of Creation (and Redemption) as told in the Bible. It makes a great addition to any Christian home, office, lobby or church location.

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world. – Psalm 19:1-4 (ESV)

God has blessed me with the opportunity and ability to photograph many beautiful locations around the world. This project has taken me nearly around the world twice. Personally, I feel that some of the greatest natural beauty can often be found in the remotest deserts on the planet – from the driest and hottest deserts of sand to the most secluded,  harshest and frozen deserts of ice. I wanted to use my photography to glorify God and, in particular, to showcase some of my photos set against the the beautiful story of God’s creation. I initially set out to do only a small book, with a few verses from the book of Genesis in it. When I had finished the Genesis verses through Noah’s flood, I thought I had completed the project – the story of creation was told. I could not have been more wrong! God simply wouldn’t have the story, His story, end there.

He didn’t finish His creation by leaving it, and all of humanity, stuck in a fallen and sinful state with no hope of a future. The Holy Spirit strongly impressed upon me, therefore, to continue and to include the complete story of creation as God intended. If you are going to tell the story of creation, you must tell the whole story; this meant that I also had to tell the story of the hope and redemption God had already planned before time itself, through His own Son, Jesus of Nazareth – the Christ, Messiah and Savior, God in the flesh. So I continued on to include Gospel verses. Furthermore, I also had to tell the end of the story, where God restores His creation and humanity back to His intended state of glory as told in Revelation. I simply could not leave creation in a fallen state without showing the blessed hope and promise given in the Bible.
