The Commands of Christ

This book provides a summary of the commandments (commands) of Christ as given in the New Testament. It is written to the born-again Christian who desires to be obedient to the word of God, abounding in good works, bearing fruit for the Lord, and being a Kingdom Builder for Christ. To be obedient, we must know what Jesus’s commands to us are. Most people (even non-Christians) can recite the two most important commandments given by Jesus:

  • Love God, and
  • Love others as yourself

However, Christ’s commandments go far beyond those:

  • Forgive others as you were forgiven,
  • Do not judge others,
  • Do not commit adultery,
  • Let your light shine before others,
  • Love and pray for your enemies,
  • Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s,
  • Go into the all the world and preach the gospel to all creation,
  • Do this in remembrance of me (the Lord’s Supper)
  • etc.

Come along as we make our way through the New Testament and discover a wealth of information from our diligent study, serving (and worshiping) the Lord in spirit and truth, in obedience to Christ.

By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. – 1 John 2:3-6
